Location location location. Why am i emphasizing this? This is it ladies, every industry in the world has a hub,the go to places for certain things.

Now where is the hub of Nollywood?Bingo Lagos.Am not saying you have to go all the way to Lagos or a different city to get discovered, hey you may just be acting at church and get discovered.

The thing is,the Nigerian movie industry is located in Lagos. So the chances of you landing that role that will sky rocket your career has a higher percentage of happening when you are in Lagos.

So being located in an area where the movie movers and shakers of the Nigeria movie industry are located is not a bad idea.If you cant move, look identify the closest movie hub.Consider it.

#5. Create an Online Presence

Writing this article something popped up in my head, now instead of waiting to be discovered doll, why not put yourself out there.

I mean why not create an online presence. Try making a recording of your acting and place it on social media.Today most media content are viewed on the internet.

Use this to your advantage and create an online presence for yourself.Be known.Good content only, nothing shady please. You don’t want to be involved in a trashy video that will hunt you later.

It would not hurt to try who knows who might be watching.Give it a try if you are up to it.

#6. Start to Network

The importance of networking cannot be over emphasised. The truth is you can not do it all alone, you need the assistance of those who have gone before you or on the same path as you are.

How do you network?Simple, build a relationship with serious and focused actresses or aspiring actresses.People who have the same goals as you do.Join a credible and supportive organisation for actors.

Having contacts in the movie industry, would allow you to know which roles are available, when auditions are to be held ,get acting jobs e.t.c

Information that may not be advertised but known by only those in the industry. You would what to be in the know when things go down.At this point i most mention,be wary of fraudsters who want to dupe aspiring actresses.

Please do not engage in questionable acts to get roles.Having a good mentor should be considered .A mentor would also assist you in getting proper acting skills and also having information on happenings in the industry.

#7. Get an Agent

Getting an agent should be considered if you can afford it.Sign up with credible agencies that have a good track record.

Agencies normally charge service fees. The job of the agency is to get you auditions which will lead to acting jobs. The first jobs your agent may get you,may be small roles but with time, bigger roles will come up.

#8. Walk the Walk

Nothing good comes easy cliche right?Cliche, but true.If you want to become the next Genevieve Nnaji, you have got to work for it.

Hard work does not kill it only makes you stronger.Improve your acting skills at every opportunity, take acting jobs you feel comfortable with,do not mind if the pay is little now,it will be better.

Focus on improving your skills and getting as much jobs as you can handle.Get experience from small jobs and use them to build your resume, with time you will build an impressive resume.

Rapping it up…

Being an actress may not be easy and you probably have to hold another job to keep you going while trying to land big acting roles and make a name for yourself,in those trying times always have the end in mind.

No one becomes a super star over night it starts with one step which is knowing what you want, being focused and working towards it.
