Your CV presents things about you to a prospective employer. It includes your work experience, education, skills, and so on.

Also, your CV needs to be aesthetically pleasing; from the way you space it, to the fonts used, to the justification, and so on. An attractive CV can make an employer want to know more about you, and if you are fit for the job.

You also need to make your CV not too long than necessary, this is so as not bore the person examining it. Also, you need to use the right keywords in your CV.

For instance, if you are a graphic designer, make sure there are words in your CV that show that you are a graphic designer. The keywords in your CV can speak volumes to a prospective employer. In addition, you need to make your CV aesthetically pleasing;  In addition, your grammar and punctuation should be taken into consideration.

2. Write your cover letter properly:

it is not only important to write your CV well, you also need to write your cover letter well. Your cover letter is what a prospective employer or an hiring manager, as the case may be, see, before going on to look at your CV.

Your cover letter introduces you to whomever is reading it, it captures in few paragraphs who you are and why you are fit for the position. Anyone who reads your cover letter and is impressed, can easily go ahead to read your CV.

Another thing to do is to search regularly. Don’t just search for few days and then start complaining that you haven’t found a suitable place to work yet.

By doing this, your searching becomes more easier because you already have mails coming in, letting you know which and which companies are hiring. Also, if you normally go out to different companies in search of vacant positions, it might also be helpful to drop your contact details at those companies so that you will get notified when there is a job vacancy. Remember to search regularly, and you can contact the HR at the right intervals to ask about vacancies in the company.

4. Prepare well for interviews:

it’s not enough to get a call, text, or email inviting you for an interview. To get the job, you need to go past the interview stage, and get to the employment stage.

Also, you need to practice likely questions on your own that you think you might be asked. In addition, while going for the interview, you need to dress well, be eloquent, and articulate the things you need to say well.

some companies also put up vacancies on their social media accounts. Some companies may not always use job search websites, but they make use of their different social media channels to tell the public about a current vacant position.

While other companies complement advertising on job search sites with advertising on their social media accounts. One tip here is knowing the companies you want to work for and staying updated about them. Also, you can follow their social media accounts to to stay updated about them.

However, before you do this, you need to know if the organisations make such announcements through their social media accounts.

6. Cold-pitches:

one thing you can also do is to identify a company you will like to work for and send cold-pitches to them. Sometimes people get jobs through sending cold-pitches to organizations they would like to work for.

And so, when you do this, it’s not all the time the organisations might call you for an interview, but some might, depending on how you present yourself and also on whether there is a need for you in the organisation.

In writing a cold-pitch, you need to structure your cover letter well in a way that will make the organisation see that they need someone like you in their company. You highlight your strengths and skills very well.

7. Get the required experience:

Sometimes, one of the reasons some companies don’t employee a candidate is not because the person doesn’t have the required skills or education, sometime it’s because he/she doesn’t have the required experience.

Some employers are very keen about knowing the jobs you have done before now. Sometimes getting the required experience might not be easy because you’ve not had the opportunity to work in a place before now.

One of the things that can easily give you some form of experience is taking up internship offers, volunteering for organisations, and so on.

8. Have samples of your work:

One of the things that also shows a prospective employer about what you can do is samples of your previous works. You need to have samples of your previous works ready, and some people have portfolios to help them present their previous works. You can have a physical portfolio, or an online portfolio, based on the one that suits you and suits your profession.

9. Beware of job scams:

In a rush or frenzy to get a suitable place to work, it is important not to fall into the hands of scammers who are looking for ways to exploit others.

And so, when kinds of job adverts doesn’t look credible, or you get an unusual kind of interview text message, then you can do further research on the company, make sure you are not being scammed.

Also, you need to be carefully about the kinds of jobs you apply for, do proper research before applying.
