BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA (SAN)
Babatunde Raji Fashola was born on the 28th of June 1963. He attended Birch Freeman High school Lagos and Igbobi College also in Lagos. He went on to study law at the university of Benin where he graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B.(Hon), degree.
After he completed the professional training course at the Nigerian Law School in Lagos in 1988, he was called to the Nigerian bar as an advocate of the Supreme Court Of Nigeria in November 1988.
After over 15 years of practicing law, he went into politics and became governor of Lagos state in 2007 on the platform of the political party APC (All Progressive Congress). He was re-elected as governor of Lagos State in 2011 and has since completed his second term.
SENATOR BOLA AHMED TINUBU
Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu was born on the 29th of March 1952. He attended St John’s Primary School in Lagos and Children’s Home School in Ibadan. Tinubu in 1975, travelled out for further studies in the United States of America. He first attended Richard J. Daley in Chicago and then later studied at Chicago State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1979.
After graduating, Tinubu worked for a while in the States before returning to Nigeria in 1983. He later went into politics and became a senator in 1992 when he won the election to become the representative of Lagos West Constituency.
After serving as a senator, in 1999 Tinubu contested for the position of governor of Lagos State on the platform of Alliance for democracy (AD) and won. He was re-elected for a second term to be governor which ended in 2007.
Since then Tinubu has gone on to form the All Progressive Congress Party which is now the ruling party in Nigeria.
OBA OF LAGOS (RILWAN AKIOLU)
The Oba of Lagos is considered as the king of all Obas in Lagos State. Though he does not have much political power he is always sought after by those in power for his opinions and views on numerous issues as he is considered close to the people and will know what they need and want.
The present Oba, Rilwan Akiolu was crowned in 2003.
Desmond Oluwashola Elliot was born on the 4th of February 1974. His father is from Lagos Island while his mother is from Delta State. Desmond is an actor and director and has featured in a lot of television shows, dramas and over two hundred movies.
Desmond had his primary school education at Air Force Primary School and went to have his secondary education at St John’s College. He furthered his education by going to Lagos State University where he studied economics and graduated in 2003.
Desmond got into acting when he was encouraged by a friend to try it out. Desmond did and has gone on to become one of Nollywood’s best actors today. He has also gone into directing and has done well for himself.
In 2014, Desmond surprisingly revealed his intentions to join politics and contested for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform All Progressive Congress Party (APC) and won the elections in April 2015 to represent Surulere Constituency.
Adeleke Olurunnimbe Mamora was born on the 16th of February 1953. Mamora became a health practitioner after obtaining a B.Sc degree in health sciences as well as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Ife.
Mamora went into politics and after being appointed speaker in the Lagos House of Assembly in 1999 he went on to become a senator in 2003.
She has followed in the footsteps of her father, Dele Adetiba, who also was involved in the broad casting industry in Nigeria.
Kemi who started her professional career as a radio presenter started her journey into the media world when she did two National television commercials for major brands.
Alhaji Lateef Jakande was born on the 29th of July 1929. He attended the following schools, public school at Lagos Island, Bunham Memorial Methodist School, Port Harcourt, Kings College Lagos and Ilesha Grammar School.
He became a journalist and later went into politics and became governor of Lagos State between 1979 and 1983. He would later on serve in government when he became the minister of works during the regime of Sani Abacha.
He attended Igbobi college in Yaba lagos, as well as the University of Lagos. He went for studies abroad and attended King William’s College on the Isle of Man, United Kingdom and John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
He went into politics and went to represent Surulere constituency at the House of Assembly. He has gone on to hold positions of the House’s Minority and Majority leader.
Abike Dabri-Erewa was born in Jos Plateau State. She had her primary school education at Maryland Private School in Lagos and had her secondary school education at St. Teresa’s College, Ibadan. She furthered her studies at the University at Ile-Ife where she obtained a degree in English Language.
She also got a Masters degree in mass communication and a post graduate diploma in mass communication from the University of Lagos as well as attending the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University in the United States of America.
Abike went into politics after spending 15 years working at the Nigerian Television Authority and has gone to represent Ikorodu Constituency at the House of Representatives.
Obafemi Martins is a footballer and striker and has represented the Nigerian senior National team (Super Eagles) at various competitions. Martins has played for various clubs in Europe, including the likes of Inter Milan in Italy, Newcastle in England and Levante in Spain.
Fondly called the ‘weapon of mass destruction ‘in Nigeria because of his striking ability he currently plays in America in the MLS (Major League Soccer).
