  1. University of Ibadan

University of Ibadan has been in the third position for many years but has been dethroned by the University of Ilorin to occupy the fourth place. It comes as no surprise that the beacon of Nigerian education is been solely upheld by the western part or region of the country.

The university is also known for its great number of professors in many departments. The university is located in Minna, the capital of Niger State. The university is acclaimed as a breeding ground for many engineers and geologists in the country because of their great and outstanding engineering earth science department.

The university is basically a technological university which offers various technology based courses in diverse areas. Their degree program is been completed over a period of five (5) years with intensive and outstanding training.

  1. University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN)

University of Nsukka is the first eastern University in the list and they occupy the seventh place on this list.   1. University of Port Harcourt

University of Port Harcourt is located in Rivers state, in the oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It is well recognized for its outstanding Oil and Gas and engineering departments. It also hosts the Institute of Petroleum studies, sponsored by major multinational oil companies based in Nigeria. The University has produced a president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, Nollywood star actress, Rita Dominic and the only Nigerian to win the Miss World beauty pageant, Agbani Darego.

  1. Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)

Ahmadu Bello University is the second largest university in Africa by land mass. The University is well laid out and well planned, it has beautiful structures and well developed sports facilities. Most universities sport competitions are held at Ahmadu Bello University. Notable alumni of this great university include Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai and former EFCC chairman Nuhu Ribadu.
