In addition to the damage of farms in the council, Williams Iko–Ojo, chairman of the Ibaji Local Government Area, reported that four people, including a toddler, were slain.
He said, “As I’m speaking with you right now, there is no habitable land in Ibaji; everywhere has been submerged and people are devastated.”
Ajofe Egwemi, Ejeh of Ibaji and Chairman of the Ibaji Traditional Council, urged the Federal Government to build dams as a long-term solution to the flooding problem and to complete the dredging of the River Niger.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Kingsley Fanwo, stated that the state government was “working tirelessly to address the problems the people are facing as a result of the devastating flood.”Jamb Result
In a related event, the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency said on Wednesday that as of October 2, more than 31,000 homes have been impacted by flooding in 255 localities across the state’s 17 LGAs.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, stated that 75 deaths had been documented as a direct result of windstorms and floods, with many more lives in danger in ten council districts since May.
