Biafra: Kanu’s lawyer Wins Federal Officers In Court, Awarded N52m

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel of Nnamdi Kanu, the proscribe leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has been awarded the sum of N52m by a Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State.

The court led by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba gave the ruling following the invasion of the lawyer’s home by security agencies of the Federal Government. DAILY POST reports.

According to the judge, the security operatives grossly violated the lawyer’s fundamental rights and subsequently awarded the sum of N50m against the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

The money is compensation for the gross violation of Ejiofor’s rights.

The court also awarded N2m as cost for the action against the Police and the Army.

In a statement presented to newsmen yesterday, entitled: ‘Justice delayed is not always justice denied,’ Ejiofor said his house was on December 2, 2019, attacked by security agents while he was burying his late elder brother, Rev Chukwukpelum Ejiofor. jamb results

“Justice Dimgba of Court No 2, Federal High Court Awka Judicial Division awarded me the sum of N50m against the police and Army and N2m as cost for the action still against the police and Army, which is cumulatively N52 million. I instituted a suit for the enforcement of my fundamental rights grossly violated by the said security agents,” the lawyer said.

“The Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, on Thursday, December 2, 2021 delivered a well-considered judgment in my favour.

“The judgment may have been delayed, but the fact that the court found that my rights were grossly infringed upon, will go a long way to assuage the pains and trauma I have been passing through in the past two years, on account of that terrible and heart-wrenching experience”.
