Akwa Ibom First Lady Empowers 450 Women

The First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel has empowered 450 women in Akwa Ibom State.

According to PM NEWS, the empowerment programme was held at Eket Senatorial District Women’s Forum in Abat, Onna Local Government Area (LGA) of Akwa Ibom State.

PM NEWS reports that the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel also empowered the women with gas cylinders, grinding machines, hairdryers, sewing machines, cooking materials, wrappers, cash gifts, accessories, and generator sets.

As reported by PM NEWS, the governor’s wife said, “The forum is meant to go out to all the LGAs and see how we can help our fellow sisters to stand on their feet so that they can provide for their families”. Jamb Results

Speaking to the beneficiaries, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel charged them to make judicious use of the items in order to become economically independent, noting that the beneficiaries were drawn from each of the political wards in Onna Local Government Area (LGA) of Akwa Ibom State.

Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel noted the beneficiaries are widows, physically challenged, cultural groups, women council, and market women.

She enjoined members of the forum particularly the new executives, to see the gesture as a call to service and to cooperate with one another for a successful tenure.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Blessing Richard thanked the governor’s wife for putting food on their tables and prayed to God to bless her.

According to PM NEWS, the high point of the event was the unveiling of a building design for the proposed Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel Development and Skills Acquisition Centre which will be completed before 2023.
