Allardyce placed Okocha in the middle of the field with Fernando Hierro, Youri Djorkaeff, and Garry Speed, all of whom are most closely associated with Bolton. Jussi Jaaskelainen in goal, Habib Beye, Ryan Nelsen, Phil Jones, and Patrick Van Aanholt on defense, and Jermain Defoe and Nicolas Anelka as his preferred forwards.

In his first season at Bolton after joining PSG, the Nigerian became something of a cult hero before being named captain in his second season. Under Allardyce, he scored 18 goals from attacking midfield in 144 games, but he will be best remembered for his dazzling array of talents that wowed both fans and neutrals.

“He’s so good they named him twice! The Bolton fans printed some t-shirts with that on. Even the non-Bolton supporters enjoyed watching Jay-Jay Okocha,” Allardyce was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

Sam Allardyce made an improbable return to the Premier League on Wednesday when Leeds appointed the 68-year-old former England coach until the end of the season following the dismissal of manager Javi Gracia.

Allardyce’s final coaching position was with West Bromwich Albion for the second half of the 2020-21 season, when he failed in his mission to maintain the team in the Premier League.JAMB Result
