The Role of the National Board For Technical Education In Nigeria – The National Board for Technical Education, otherwise known as NBTE, is a board of education that supervises, regulates, and oversees educational programs offered by technical institutions at secondary, polytechnic, and monotechnic levels through an accreditation process. Act No 9 of 11/7 1977 established it with the goal of “providing standardized minimal guide curricula to technical and vocational education and training”.

The Federal Ministry of Education has established the National Board for Technical Education as the principal body responsible for all technical and vocational education that is not offered by University Education. The Board is responsible for providing a minimum guide curriculum to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and oversees and regulates programs offered by technical institutions at secondary and high school levels. It also finances Polytechnics, which are owned by the Government of the Federation of Nigeria.
