Biography of Tiwa Savage
Tiwatope Savage a Nigerian singer, song writer and performer was born on the 5th of February 1980 in ikeja, Lagos but relocated to London with her family when she was eleven years old.
She is the only girl among several brothers. Back in London, Tiwa played the trombone for her high school’s orchestra band.

Tiwa later enrolled at Berkley College of music and graduated with a degree in professional music at 27. As a teenager, she did backup vocals for George Michael and lent vocals to Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli and Ms. Dynamite.
She has also performed on stage with Sting, 50 Cent, The Blacked Eyed Peas, Eminem, Robbie Williams and Destiny’s Child.
In 2006, Tiwa took part in the United Kingdom edition of The X Factor and was part of the final 24. It was an eye opening experience that prepared her in addition to her business degree for the entertainment world.
She admitted that she had difficulty dealing with the pressure of being in the limelight where everyone was watching and expecting so much from you.
Sony/ATV Music Publishing signed Tiwas Savage to a music deal in 2009 to write for Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia Barrino, Monica and Mya.
She received song writing credit for Monica’s ballad ‘catch me’ and collaborated with Fantasia on the song ‘collard greens and cornbread’ which earned Fantasia a Grammy nomination in 2010.
Tiwa also wrote Jaicko’s ‘Oh Yeah’ featuring Snoop Dog and Kat Deluna’s ‘push push’ featuring Akon and David Guetta and in 2009 she performed background vocals for Whitney Houston’s album I Look to you.

She later joined Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records in 2012.
Tiwas started working on her debut album ‘once upon a time’ in 2010 but finally released it in 2013. The album portrayed the positive stories about her life, the validity of her dreams to motivate upcoming artistes in believing and working hard towards achieving their dreams.
In May, 2013 she held a listening party and revealed the entire track list of the album which featured sarkodie, iceberg slim and general pype.
In 2011, Tiwa co-hosted the second season of the Nigerian Idol with ILLRymz and made a debut in nollywood with Joke Silva and Ireti Doyle in the stage adaption of For coloured girls. She was also on the set of Sade Banjo’s Shuga as supporting cast from 2013-2014.
On the 22nd of July 2015,Tiwa had her first child Jamil Balogun; she returned to Nigeria and released her second album R.E.D which hit the waves with hit singles like: standing ovation featuring olamide, if I start to talk with dr. sid, adura and several others. Later that year, her marriage to Tee Billz was over after series of accusations by husband on social media.
In June 2016, Tiwa signed a management and distribution deal with Roc Nation. She is officially the first Nigerian artiste to be signed to the label.

kHer first single was ‘kele kele love’ (2012), oyi remix (2012), Olorun mi (2013), eminado featuring Don Jazzy (2014), love me love me (2012), wanted(2014), ileke (2013), key to the city(2015), my darling (2015) ife wa gbono featuring Leo wonder (2013), drummer boy(2013), without my heart featuring Don Jazzy(2013) and the most recent single is all over (2017) love in yellow was released as a promotional singe to celebrate valentine’s day in 2014, in November 2012, she rendered her own version of the Nigerian national anthem at Ndani sessions in celebration of our 52nd anniversary.
She also collaborated with other African acts like I casa, lola rae, davido, sarkodie and diamond to record a song for DSTV’s Africa rising campaign. Tiwa has collaborated with every act in mavin records, patoranking, waje, flavour, wizkid and many others.

Tiwa is Nigeria’s most influential female singer whose fan base and viewership is very large. This means that she makes money on social media platforms like YouTube, spin let, spotify, iTunes and ring back tunes.
She is the first African female entertainer to become an ambassador in 2014 for Pepsi, one of the largest beverage companies in the world.
This contract is worth about 50 million naira. Still in 2014, Forte oil contracted her as an ambassador for their brand. Konga in 2015 signed another endorsement deal with her.
Nigerian nestle plc. also signed an endorsement deal with the entertainer to have her as an ambassador for maggi; MTN Nigeria had Tiwa Savage as their ambassador from 2013 to 2015.
After she had her baby Jamil, pampers endorsed her and her son as brand ambassadors and the deal is yet to reach an expiry date.
Tiwa is said to be worth $5 million.
