Bauchi Proposes N195bn in 2022 Budget

The Government of Bauchi State has proposed the sum of N195,355,607,143:00 for capital and recurrent services during the 2022 fiscal year comprising of recurrent expenditure of N8 4,375,180,518 :00 or 43 per cent while capital expenditure received the sum of N110,620,426,625:00 (or 57 per cent). According to THIS DAY, the project was presented to the Bauchi State House of Assembly by the state governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

THIS DAY reports that the governor revealed the proposed Budget for 2022 is 8.5 per cent lower than the budget for 2021.

Senator Mohammed said, “The reduction was arrived at in order to align government’s projections with the current economic realities, especially to the ability to meet anticipated revenues explaining that the conservative approach was adopted to ensure that projects and programmes captured are implemented.

“Budget Public Hearings were conducted in the three Senatorial Districts where inputs from stakeholders were elicited and incorporated into the budget.”

In a report filed by THIS DAY, the sum of N 100,893,132,559.25 is estimated as Recurrent Revenue made up of Internally Generated Revenue N24,494,940, 253; VAT N15,608,321, 097, Statutory Allocation N66,938,107,748 totaling N107,541 ,369,098.

In addition, the sum of N84,735,180 , 519 is earmarked for recurrent expenditure made up of personnel cost N37,004,732 ,2 26 and overhead cost of N47,730,448 , 292 totaling N8 4,735,180 , 519.

According to the governor, it is projected that the state would realise capital receipts of N 71,926,293,537 in the following areas: Aids and Grants N27,035 ,467 , 936; Other Capital Receipts N7,531 ,580 , 607; Loans (Internal & External) N37,359,24 4 , 994 totaling the sum of N71,926,293,537.

While assuring the people of Bauchi States that the government will not embark on new projects, he said, “Finally, Mr. Speaker, honourable members, I wish to appreciate your rapt attention to the presentation of the 2022 Budget which I tag the “Budget of Consolidation and Continuous Commitment.
