Beyonce said this in an interview with MTV interview

“”I am a workaholic and I don’t believe in no. I don’t believe in I need to sleep. If I’m not sleeping nobody’s sleeping. I’m one human being. It’s a lot. If I want to be a businesswoman, I’m a businesswoman. Independence is not easy.”

Here is what Wizkid said in an interview with top celebrity magazine

“There is no part of Surulere I have not done music….. I use to go to all the carnivals every December in every street in Surulere; like Lawanson, Ojuelegba and so on. Nobody paid me money for performing in events in those days…”

Don’t give up even when your first, second and third track didn’t get popular. Be patient! The journey to success has no direct route. Getting a good foundation for a lasting career always take some time, so start with the ground work first . Looking at the biography of top artists, it took them an average of 10 years to make it to the top.

Wizkid did his first album at age 11 but got his first major recognition for a feature by M.I in 2009.Music is not for the impatient, if you can’t wait long then this profession is not for you, change your profession

In an interview with andre blaize, read what Olamide said “At a time , I practically lived in the studio having left home for good . 3. Know your Audience

Music should be all about you but what your fans want. Give the best of you to your fans. They are your customers. Music is not just for clubs and getting high; remember not everyone goes to club. Some need music to take them through love life, hardships of life and even joyous moments. Leave old trends of music and look into the future

Don’t try copying, you can only go far trying to be like a top musician like Olamide, 2face, Wizkid, Davido etc but you can’t replace them. Fans will only keep remembering them more than you when they listen to your copycat version which is the beginning of failure. You don’t expect to build your house on another man’s land

4. Get a Vision and Strategy

If you don’t know your direction, you will find yourself jumping from one place to another without going anywhere. If you are a rapper, stay on your lane, find your niche among the audience and focus your energy on what you have and expand it instead of competing with singers when you are not good

Take it a step at a time, start with your hood then move to the locality, to the state, then to the region and keep going. At every step, create plans and put timelines to it.

From time to time, evaluate your progress and adjust strategy is progress is not met. Make more research and get ideas about the music industry and apply
