iPhone 6s and 6s Plus DESIGN

Just like their elder brothers – the iPhone 6 and 6 plus, the 6s and 6s plus maintained beautifully finished edges and smoothly curved corners.

However, this time, the frame of the iPhone 6s and the 6s plus were built from a 7000 series aluminium. One of the strongest kind of aluminium you can get. These two devices come in four beautiful colours. Gold, silver, space grey and rose gold.

In terms of body size and weight, the iPhone 6s measure 7.1mm and Weighs 143g. While 6s plus measures 7.3mm and weighs 192g. So despite the 6s plus being more of a phablet than a smartphone, they are both easy to grip.

The placement of control buttons on the two phones are the same.

At the top corner of the screen, you will find an array of sensors including the ambient light sensor. Down to the bottom corner of the front, you will find the home button. This also functions as the finger print scanner and it performs the function pretty well.

At the right corner of the edges, you will find the standby/power button. While on the left side, you find the ring/silent button with the volume buttons a bit below it.

The bottom corner of the edge, contains the 3.5mm headphone jack, lightening connector, microphones and the speaker.

Flip the phone over and you will find the rear camera and the LED flash at the top corner of the phone. A little step below and you will find the apple logo. While down the bottom part of the rear, you will see “iPhone” beautifully imprinted on the devices.

In all, the 6s and 6s plus are beautiful to hold and behold.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus DISPLAY

The iPhone 6s has a 4.7-inch LED-backlit widescreen with a resolution of 1334-by-750-pixel at 326 ppi pixel density. The 6s plus sports a 5.5-inch LED-backlit widescreen with a resolution of 1920-by-1080-pixel at 401 ppi pixel density.

These features guarantees a 500 cd/m2 max brightness and full sRGB standard vibrant colour display. However, in reality nothing compares to the rich vibrant display of Samsung’s super AMOLED screens. But the iPhone 6s is a close second. In the same ranking with the LG G4 anyway.

Perhaps, the most amazing feature of these phones is the 3D touchscreen feature of the phones.

In these two devices, Apple took touchscreen technology to a whole different level with the 3D touchscreen features.

This 3D technology enables the devices to offer users 3-demensional response to hard press on app icons.

In fact, it offers the users the luxury of enjoying the right-click function we see in a computer mouse. A little harder than normal tap on an app icon, a menu pops up suggesting shortcut options to perform other functions related to the tapped icon.

For instance, if you tap the camera icon a bit hard, a pop up menu appears showing options like: take selfie, record video, record video slo-mo and take photo.

However, this feature does not work in all the applications.

These phones are ideal for playing games, watching movies(especially the 6s plus). And browsing the web.

These screens are also protected by an ion strengthened glass to ensure that your priceless device remains protected.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus PROCESSOR AND OPERATING SYSTEM

Unlike what we see in Android phones, Apple design different processors and operating system for their iPhone. And this year, it is the iOS 9 and the A9 processor.

The iPhone 6s and 6s plus runs iOS 9, upgrade-able to iOS 9.2 released on December 8, 2015. Internally, these devices are powered by an A9 chip with integrated M9 motion co-processor. Dual core 1.8Ghz Twister. Supported by powerVR GT7600(six core graphics).

On the memory front, iPhone 6s and 6s plus comes with 2GB RAM and internal memory of 16/32/64GB

Now you know the secret behind the amazing performance of most iPhone – a well packed hood.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus CAMERA QUALITY

This is one area where the 6s plus exercises certain level of superiority over the 6s. The two devices sports 12MP rear camera with features such as phase detect auto-focus, dual LED flash, panorama, f/2.2 aperture, face detection, photo geotagging, HDR, noise reduction and records 4k video.

But, only the 6s plus has optical image stabilization (OIS) for photo and video recording which reduces the effect of camera shakes and unstable videos.

The two devices also sport 5MP front facing camera. With image recording focus, HDR, face detection and flash firing system. Which ensures that the cameras take a better toned selfies.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus BATTERY LIFE

The iPhone 6s is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery of 1715mAh. While the 6s plus comes fitted with a built-in lithium-ion battery of 2750mAh. These are small capacity batteries when compared to what we see on Android devices with similar features.

However, I can not say anything about the battery performance as I do not own any of these devices. More so, am not an iPhone enthusiast.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus CONNECTIVITY

On the connectivity end, the iPhone 6s and 6s plus offers you all you can get from a high-end smartphone. Bluetooth v4.2, NFC(for Apple pay), Wi-Fi, 4G.

IPHONE 6s & 6s PLUS: THE PITFALLS

The downside to the iPhone 6s and 6s plus are the small capacity battery. And generally the high price of the two phones.

Also, the absence of OIS feature in the iPhone 6s means the phone may sometime produce shaky and unstable photos and videos. This is a shame for a phone of such quality.

MY CANDID ADVICE

Despite these drawbacks, the iPhone 6s and 6s plus remains one of the best Android smartphones released in 2015. So, if you can ignore the limited battery capacity or augment for the deficiency with a bigger capacity power pack, then I encourage you to go for any of the two you can afford.
