Ogun Speaker Speaks On Ritual Killing In The State

The Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has expressed concerns over the increased rate of ritual killings in the state.Information Guide Nigeria

According to DAILY POST, the state which was once considered a peaceful state is now enmeshed in different forms of crimes, ranging from kidnapping, cultism, banditry, farmers-herders clashes, armed robbery, land grabbing, and other crimes.

DAILY POST reports that between January and February 2022, there were no fewer than three incidents of persons caught with human parts in Ogun State.

One of the cases involved the recent arrest of Mustakeem Balogun and Soliu Majekodunmi, in Abeokuta who killed a young lady identified as Sofiat Okeowo and a couple arrested at Leme for killing a woman and selling her head at the cost of N70,000.

DAILY POST reports that Oluomo condemned the rise in ritual killings, cultism, and other crimes.

Oluomo spoke while addressing members of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), during a sensitization/advocacy visit to the State Assembly, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Oluomo said law enforcement agents in the State to avoid  “the illegal reduction of charges” against crime suspects while preparing their charges.

According to him, the reduction leads to, “upsurge in criminal activities as the culprits would be left with lesser punishment.”

The Speaker charged that security agents, all agents of socialization, including traditional worshipers must be engaged to reduce crimes and criminality in the State.Jamb Result
