A report from express claimed that Chelsea have received a boost regarding their long-standing interest in West Ham captain and England World Cup star Declan Rice, with the midfielder set to leave David Moyes’ side in the summer. Graham Potter’s outfit will not be the only ones interested in the 23-year-old however, as his performances both at the tournament in Qatar and the Premier League have caught the attention of several top Champions League clubs.Information Guide Nigeria
Rice’s performances at the heart of midfield for club and country have seen interest grow as the Englishman has previously turned down the opportunity to extend his stay at the London Stadium. Chelsea reportedly have a gentleman’s agreement with Rice and West Ham that would see him stay at the Hammers until the end of the current season, and then move to Stamford Bridge.

Whether there is actually such an arrangement remains to be seen, but The Telegraph has claimed that West Ham are preparing to sell Rice for approximately £70million and he will definitely leave the club in the summer. However in a blow to Chelsea’s chances, reporter Matt Law told the London Is Blue Podcast that two Premier League rivals have moved ahead of the Blues in the race for Rice, having made big plays to sign the midfielder.NYSC portal

A reported £70m is a step down from Moyes’ previous claim over his star man’s worth. “The first thing to say is that he is not for sale,” Moyes said in April. “If you are interested, well, it will be north of that because £100m was cheap last summer. £150m just now would be [the] minimum but he is not for sale. What I do know is that it means there are only certain clubs that could even consider it.”JAMB portal
However, Rice’s contract situation may have forced West Ham to lower their price tag. The England international’s deal expires in 2025, and despite being offered a reported eight-year deal at his current club he has turned down several offers and looks set to leave in search of Champions League football.
The two clubs ahead of Chelsea have not been named, but Manchester United have previously been linked with a move for Rice. Whether their interest has cooled following the additions of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to their midfield remains to be seen, however. Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has urged the Gunners to move for Rice as well.JAMB Result
“I truly believe, this is the truth. If you are going to pay £100m, who would you buy? Would you buy [Jude] Bellingham or would you buy Rice? I’d buy Rice. All day long,” Campbell told The Highbury Squad.
