Chelsea transfer board should eye £45m favour or risk recalling loanees in Ben Chilwell absence

Marina Granovskaia should eye £45m favour or risk recalling loanees in Ben Chilwell absence-OPINION

Just as Ben Chilwell was entering the gates of the best form of his life, he has suffered an ACL injury and may be out for the rest of the year. infoguidenigeria

Safe to say that Chelsea fans across the world are devastated by this news. We wish Chilwell a speedy recovery and we hope that he doesn’t need surgery going forward.

In light of this situation, it has been realised that Chelsea’s defensive options aren’t as bolstered as thought. Marcos Alonso is the obvious replacement in Chilwell’s absence but is that enough? Surely Chelsea have to go on a shopping hunt in January.

Theo Hernandez

Hernandez is the star who I’ve put a lot of stocks in. Despite missing a couple of matches having caught COVID-19, the Frenchman has been undroppable. jamb result

The Frenchman is currently valued at £45m on TransferMarkt. Will Chelsea be comfortable in paying over £45 million for the left-back? A big risk. Considering how much Chelsea fans love Ben Chilwell, a move for Hernandez will eventually mess up the dynamic for the squad when he does come back from injury. Chilwell will need to fight for his spot back whilst recovering from such a serious injury, especially if we have to fork out the big bucks for Hernandez.

Emerson Palmieri

The Italian international has been sent out on a season-long loan to the French side, Lyon. We have seen the best bits of the Italian during his time with the Blues. He was unfortunate to be on the bottom end of the pecking order.

He has been starting weekly for his surrogate team which begs the question, will he want to come back halfway through the season?

No one ever expects for their star player to get injured. Especially in a season where we will be playing more games than usual. Our participation in the FIFA Club World Cup will tire out Marcos Alonso. He will be expected to play every single game unless we get that important replacement.
