Cholera outbreak: Commencement Of Cholera Vaccines Begins

The Government of Jigawa State has announced its commencement of the administration of cholera vaccine in three Local Governments Areas of the State.

DAILY POST reports that this announcement was made by the Executive Secretary, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim during the official flag-off of the vaccine in Badanda village, Dutse Local Government Area of Plateau State. Jamb Result

According to DAILY POST, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim said, “In the last four months, the state recorded about 20,000 cases of cholera outbreak and about 500 people died as a result of the outbreak.”

However, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim noted that the Federal Government had provided about 1.4 doses of the vaccines to be given to people from 1 year and above. Information Guide Nigeria

DAILY POST reports that about 720 people were targeted for the first and second doses of the vaccine in Hadejia, Dutse, and Birnin Kudu.

Dr. Ibrahim called on residents of the state to cooperate with the Government’s efforts in controlling the disease while adding that they should maintain the traditional methods of infection control protocols.
