As Manchester United pulled off an unexpected 2-1 victory against Liverpool on Monday at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo praised his teammates for their fantastic efforts.
The 37-year-old, however, didn’t have much of a part to play because new manager Erik ten Hag bravely decided to bench him in favour of a more adaptable forward line that included Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. It turned out to be a wise decision because both players scored, and Ronaldo didn’t enter the game until the 86th minute, when the Red Devils were frantically clinging to a slim advantage and had given up control.
