Two men jailed 5 years each for trafficking in illicit drugs

Justice Mohammed Garba of the Federal High Court in Kaduna has handed down a five-year prison sentence to two men, Yusuf Garba and Dauda Musa, for their involvement in the trafficking of illicit drugs. In addition to the prison terms, the convicts were given the option of paying a fine of N500,000 each. This option provides an alternative to serving time in prison, subject to the payment of the specified amount.

During the court proceedings, T. J. Atserhegh, the counsel representing the NDLEA, detailed the circumstances of the case. He informed the court that the convicts were apprehended in Rigachikun, Kaduna, with 60kg of cannabis sativa in their possession.NYSC Portal

This act was in violation of Section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

As part of the evidence presented, Atserhegh submitted the certificate of analysis of the drug, the drug analysis report, the statements of the defendants, and the seized cannabis. These items were admitted by the court as exhibits.JAMB Result
