FIFA Set to hand Iran’s World Cup place to Ukraine: ‘This will be a fair decision’

There are proposals for FIFA to ban Iran from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and replace them with Ukraine.

This month, the human rights organisation Open Stadiums urged the governing body of world football to exclude the Iranian national team from the World Cup due to the country’s treatment of women.

It occurred as widespread protests seized the country over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman who died earlier this month while in police custody.

The Iranian regime is also being criticised harshly for its apparent assistance in Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

The British Ministry of Defense asserts that Iran continues to supply Russia with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have been deployed against Ukrainian targets.

Sergei Palkin, the chief executive officer of Shakhtar Donetsk, has urged FIFA to withdraw Iran of their World Cup berth and award it to Ukraine, who lost their June play-off final to Wales 1-0.
