The Nigeria Police Force headquarters is mourning the passing of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 5, comprising Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa States, AIG Lawan Tanko Jimeta. THE GUARDIAN reports.

Jimeta was born on September 9, 1964 in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from the University of Maiduguri; and a Masters’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the National Open University.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was trained in the Nigeria Police Academy Annex, Kaduna State.JAMB Result
