A specific charge highlighted that on November 28, 2014, Professor Agoro, while serving as Provost and CEO of the college, improperly awarded a contract worth N47,115,915 for furnishing lecturers’ offices to Neatmosa Integrated Services Limited, a company where he was reportedly a director. This contract was part of the 2013 and 2014 merged Tetfund Normal Intervention programme.

In a 12-count charge, Justice D.E. Adekeme found Professor Agoro guilty on counts 1 and 5 to 12, while Lakemfa was convicted on counts 2 to 4. The judge imposed non-custodial sentences on both defendants: Professor Agoro was given an option of a one million naira fine, and Lakemfa, a N100,000 fine.JAMB Result

The prosecution, led by Mrs. Peace Arocha and Dr. Agada Akogu, informed the court that the ICPC received a petition in May 2017 alleging that Professor Agoro had misused Tetfund funds by awarding contracts to his own company and those owned by his relatives between 2012 and 2014, in violation of public procurement rules.JAMB Portal

The ICPC’s investigation further revealed that a contract for constructing a language laboratory and music studio was awarded to Nancydor Ekperi and Sons Co. Ltd., owned by a friend of Agoro and Lakemfa. Additional contracts for construction and supplies were also improperly awarded to companies linked to the convicts’ family members, indicating a widespread abuse of power and public funds.
