Actress Hadiza Gabon drags man to court for defamation of character

Kannywood actress Hadiza Aliyu, commonly referred to as Hadiza Gabon, has initiated a lawsuit against Bala Musa, a civil servant, accusing him of defamation of character. The case was presented before a Magistrates’ court on Daura road, Kaduna.InformationGuideNigeria

Gabon’s counsel, Mr. Mubarak Sani, stated that due to Musa’s unfounded claims, the actress has faced severe backlash and harmful comments from the public. People have taken to social media to label Aliyu as a fraudster, alleging that she swindled Musa but failed to commit to a marital relationship with him. These claims were later declared baseless.

In response, Musa, represented by his attorney, Mr. Naira Murtala, denied the charges. Chief Magistrate Shamsudeen Sulaiman inquired if the complainant had any witnesses to testify, receiving an affirmative reply.NYSC Portal

The magistrate then granted bail to Musa under the stipulation that he provide two trustworthy sureties residing in Kaduna State who are also civil servants. The case is set to continue on November 15, where Gabon’s side will present their witnesses.

Interestingly, Musa had earlier sued Gabon in a Shari’a Court in March 2022, accusing her of declining his marriage proposal after allegedly receiving N396,000 from him. Gabon refuted these allegations, emphasizing that she had never met or interacted with Musa.JAMB Portal

During the proceedings in the Shari’a court, bank records presented showed that the money Musa claimed to have sent to Gabon had actually been received by four individuals. Two of these individuals, Fatima Abdullahi and Abdullahi Yusuf, who claimed to be friends and personal assistants to the actress, admitted to impersonating her and deceitfully collecting money on her behalf. They sought the court’s forgiveness for their actions.JAMB Result

Despite requests to escalate the case to an Upper Shari’a Court, Judge Isiyaku Abdulrahman dismissed it on October 31, freeing Gabon from the charges. Musa and his counsel were then ordered to compensate the actress with N500,000 for the inconvenience caused.
