Greenwood, who has one England cap, was later charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
The Crown Prosecution Service announced the dismissal of the charges at the beginning of February 2023, citing the withdrawal of key witnesses and the discovery of fresh evidence.
Following the disclosure, Manchester United stated that they would undertake their own investigation “prior to taking further action,” having already suspended the player from playing or training within hours of the initial allegations.NYSC Portal
Last month, it was rumoured that United will wait until the summer to make a final decision over Greenwood’s future, with the striker more likely to depart Old Trafford than to remain.
Several European clubs have already expressed an interest in signing Greenwood, with Manchester United thought to have turned down offers from Turkey as the club’s internal probe continues.
Greenwood’s team believe he should have the chance to “rebuild and move forward with his young life,” regardless of whether he remains a United player.
