Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku will return to Chelsea after his loan contract with Inter Milan expires at the end of the 2022-23 season, Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta confirmed on Tuesday.Information Guide Nigeria
“The loan was for one season so on June 30 regardless of how well he plays, he’ll go back to Chelsea. This has been an unprecedented season,” Marotta told Sky Italia. “I’m referring of course to the (winter) World Cup. The problems we’ve experienced have been experienced by other clubs too and the players who played at the World Cup.”

Lukaku hasn’t found the fitness he needs to play his best football. He’s still not at his best or the player we got to see in years gone by,” Marotta added.

Lukaku has previously played for both Inter and Chelsea. Chelsea first acquired him from RSC Anderlecht in 2011. Since then, he has appeared in 59 games for the English heavyweights, scoring 15 goals and assisting on three occasions. During that time, Chelsea loaned him out to a number of clubs, including West Bromwich Albion, Everton, and, of course, Inter.NYSC Portal
Lukaku signed a permanent contract with Everton in 2014. Manchester United signed him three years later, then sold his contract to Inter two years later in 2019. Lukaku scored 74 goals and 16 assists in 95 games for Inter in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons, helping the club win its first Serie A title in 11 years in 2020-2021. Following that, Chelsea brought him back to Stamford Bridge for a season before loaning him out to Inter.
Lukaku has only scored five goals and provided one assist in 18 appearances for Inter this season. According to The Athletic, the club has not given up hope of bringing him back, but they are not in the best financial position to pay Chelsea’s asking price for Lukaku.
Chelsea, with all of their offensive weapons, including Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Datro Fofana, and Joao Felix, are unlikely to keep Lukaku. According to The Athletic, the team is also willing to pay a high price for Christopher Nkunku from Red Bull Leipzig.JAMB Result
