S’Court: 11 justices scale NJC hurdle, await Tinubu’s nod

The National Judicial Council (NJC) of Nigeria has selected 11 justices to fill the vacant positions at the Supreme Court. This move comes in response to the current shortfall in the prescribed number of justices for the apex court, which is constitutionally set at 21. Currently, the Supreme Court has only 10 justices following the retirement of Justice Musa Dattijo in October.

This selection process follows a screening of 22 candidates by the Federal Judicial Service Commission, as previously reported by The PUNCH. The NJC has now published the names of the successful candidates on its website. Among those selected are:NYSC Portal
