Nigeria determined to return democratic rule to Guinea – Osinbajo

The Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo have stated that Nigeria is set to ensure a quick return of democratic rule to Guinea after the recent military coup. Information Guides Nigeria

The meeting was held on Thursday in Accra Ghana which the focus was on the political issues in the Republic of Guinea and Mali.

As reported by Daily Nigerian, in his words, Nigeria wants the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to insist on a short transition programme that will usher in a new civilian government in that country.

According to  Laolu Akande, Vice President Spokesman in a statement, said the vice president deputized President Muhammadu Buhari at the Extraordinary Summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS member-states. jamb results

At the end of the extraordinary summit, ECOWAS leaders came to conclusion that the financial assets of members of the military junta will be freezed and a ban will be placed on their travelling.

They also demanded that the junta return Guinea to constitutional rule within six months.

The Vice president also frowned at the coup de‘tat in Guinea, calling for an unconditional release of President Alpha Conde.

“It is also important that ECOWAS should simply insist that there should be an immediate return to civil rule.

“We must make sure that sanctions by ECOWAS achieve the intended objectives.” he said.
