Hisbah To Arrest Parents Of Shatu Garko Over participation In Miss Nigeria Pageantry
Haruna Ibn Sina, the Kano State Hisbah commander has disclosed that parents of Miss Nigeria winner, Shatu Garko may be arrested for permitting their daughter to participate in the beauty pageant competition, describing it as “illegal” and contrary to Islamic customs. THE STREET JOURNAL reports.

Recall that Ms. Garko, 18, of Kano, came out as the 44th Miss Nigeria, the first hijab adorning Muslims to win the beauty pageant. Information Guide Nigeria
In reaction to Miss Garko’s victory in the beauty pageant, while being interviewed with BBC pidgin Mr. Haruna said participating in a pageant is “forbidden” for Muslims from Kano, a northern Nigerian state with strict Sharia practices. jamb results
Mr. Ibn Sina added that they had confirmed that Ms. Garko’s parents are living in Kano and will soon be arrested for the role their daughter played in the beauty contest.
