Court Refuses Okorocha’s Plea For Bail
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has declined to grant bail to detained former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. INDEPENDENT reports.
Okorocha is being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over claimed corruption-related acts while in office as a governor.

On Friday, Okorocha approached the court with a bail application but upon hearing the motion ex parte, the judge refused to compel the EFCC to release him on bail. jamb results
Okorocha had filed the motion ex-parte, which he predicated on the ground that he is a Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress APC and that his political ambition would be jeopardized unless granted bail.
In a brief ruling, Justice Ekwo said he was not inclined to admit Okorocha to bail.
However, the court ordered Okorocha to put the Federal Government on notice so as to come and show cause why the Senator should not be granted bail.

It would be recalled that Okorocha has been slated for arraignment on a N2.9billion money laundering charge before the same Judge.
But twice, Okorocha refused to appear in court, a development that made Justice Ekwo, on February 22, 2022, to threaten to strike out the 17-count criminal charge if the EFCC fails to produce him in court to enter plea.
