Ralf Rangnick tells Manchester United players what they must do in top-four race

Manchester United’s players must start performing for the full 90 minutes, rather than just in portions of games, if they are to finish in the Premier League’s top four. That’s according to interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who was still able to find positives from Tuesday’s draw with Burnley despite the disappointing result.Information Guide Nigeria

United were looking for a strong response after their shocking FA Cup elimination at the hands of Championship side Middlesbrough last week and they looked to be giving one in the first 45 minutes.

They dominated the Clarets in the first half, went ahead through Paul Pogba’s fine strike and were unlucky not to be three goals to the good after two strikes were controversially disallowed.

However, all of the side’s missed chances would once again come back to haunt them as Burnley came out fighting after the break and levelled through Jay Rodriguez.

Buoyed by the strike, Burnley looked likely to take the lead for a spell of the match as United struggled to recover from the blow.

As the minutes ticked down Rangnick’s side managed to apply some pressure but despite their efforts, they were once more unable to find an elusive winner, with a brief poor spell costing them two points.

As a result, they have slipped out of the final Champions League place, being leapfrogged by West Ham, and have opened the door for Tottenham and Arsenal – who still have games in hand – to move level on points with them this week.

According to manchestereveningnews, Rangnick believes the result has made United’s upcoming fixtures against Southampton and Brighton even more important and has told his players they must start playing well for the entirety of matches if they are to win them.

“Even if we had won [against Burnley], it would have been important but now it’s even more important to get six points out of those two games,” the interim manager told United’s in-house media.

“But in order to do that we have to learn the lessons and just be aware that we have to play on that kind of level, not only for 45 or today, maybe total 70 minutes – we have to play like that for 90-94 minutes.”JAMB Result
