Types of Malaysia Visa

There are two types of Malaysia visa, namely:

 VWR – Visa with Reference and VWTR — Visa without Reference

1. VWTR – Visa without R

‘Visa without Reference’ is a type of Malaysian visa for people who aim to travel to Malaysia just to study, visit a family relative, go through Malaysia to another country, or just take a tour.

It is the most popular category of visas. The visas in this category include Study visas, Transit visas, Family visas, and Tourist visas.

Requirements for Visa without Reference

The following documents are necessary for VWTR (Visa without Reference) application:

a. A valid Nigerian passport – valid for 6 months, with at least two free pages for visa stickers.

b. Two (2) copies of well-filled Malaysian visa application form – Form IMM.47

c. Two (2) passport-sized photographs

d. Visa application fee receipt

e. A letter of invitation from Malaysian sponsor – (for visit visas)

f. Bank financial statement for the past 3 months

Applicants for this type of visa will be given a maximum stay of 14 days and no extension is allowed.

2. VWR – Visa with Reference

‘Visa with Reference’ is a type of Malaysia visa made available for people who want to travel to Malaysia for business or investment reasons only.

Malaysian Consulate in Nigeria issues this type of visa after the Department of Immigration Malaysia has approved your application.

Requirements for Visa with Reference

a. Original and two (2) copies of the approval letter from the Department of Immigration Malaysia.

b. A valid Nigerian passport – valid for 6 months, with at least two (2) free pages for visa stickers.

c. Two (2) copies of well-filled Malaysian visa application form – Form IMM.47

d. Two (2) passport-sized photographs

e. Visa application fee receipt

f. Valid and confirmed return flight ticket

Such visit is usually being sponsored by a local business or company in Malaysia, which requires a payment deposit of RM 2000 per applicant payable to the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Applicant will be given a maximum non-extendable 30 days of stay.

How to Apply for a Malaysian Visa

The Malaysian visa can be applied at Malaysia High Commission in Abuja, where you will have to follow an easy application process as long as you can provide all the required documents.

Applicants are required to submit their applications personally.

Visa Processing

The processing of Malaysia visa application is completed within 4 to 6 working days of the day the application is submitted. You can submit your application from Monday to Friday starting from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Collection

Collection time is between 4pm to 5pm from Monday to Friday except on public holidays.
