“In keeping with the objectives of the scheme, you are expected to integrate into your host communities while also appreciating and respecting their cultures. I must, however, emphasise that engagement in their local politics is a no-go-area for you,” stated Mr Abubakar. “As you proceed to your locations of primary assignments, I urge you to be security-conscious at all times.”

The NYSC coordinator added that as the corps members posting letters would be handed to them after the ceremony, they should remember the oath of allegiance they took to accept posting in good faith.

The coordinator also encouraged them to perform their work with diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and by-laws.

He further advised the corps members to work on the skills they acquired during the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

“This will go a long way in empowering you for self-employment. On our part, we are liaising with financial institutions and other stakeholders with a view to providing start-up loans to enable you to actualise your business dreams. I wish to assure you that management will continue to explore avenues for optimising the impact of the programme”.
