Biyi Bandele is another top 10 Nollywood Director in Nigeria, who based in the United Kingdom.  He is a novelist, and a playwright as well as, a filmmaker.

A writer, this renowned filmmaker had won his first ever short-story competition, and that was when he was just 14. Born 1967 in Kaduna, a city where he grew up as a young child, and then  left at the age of 18.

Coming to Lagos, he went to study drama at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1987 and after two years of study, Biyi won the International Student Play Script competition for his play, titled, the ‘Rain’.

It was in 1990, when Biyi travelled to London along with his own two novel manuscripts that these manuscripts were published. The manuscripts were later published and then commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre.

Ishaya Bako is one of the best film directors in Nigeria, Ishaya who was born in 1986, is also a good screenwriter.

He had to traveled to London in 2008 just to study at the London Film School. Initially, Ishaya, was a graduate of Management Information Systems from the Covenant University.

It was not until his third year in college that he began to developed deep passion for filmmaking. After a year, while on a trip to his home in Kaduna from River State, the filmmaker had a near-fatal accident.

It was in this year of incident, that Ishaya starts what I may called, soul searching, where he allowed his through merged into what he wanted to do with the rest of his life, and finally realized that filmmaking is what he has passion for.

5. Tope Oshin

Tope Oshin is another best Nollywood Directors in the country. Although today, Tope Oshin is a television and a film director, and also a producer as well as, a casting director, she initially studied economics at the University of Ilorin, there after abandoned the programme, and left for Lagos State University, and there at the Lagos State university, was where she completed a degree programme in Theatre Arts, and Television and Film Production.

After her graduation, she had decided to develop her passion for filmmaking. She had also furthered her education programme at Colorado Film School of the Community College of Aurora, Denver, where she majored on film directing.

6. Kunle Afolayan

Kunle Afolayan is one of the 10 best Nollywood directors in Nigeria. He is an actor, and a producer and a film director. Kunle Afolayan read economics in college and after which, worked in one of the banks in the country, before eventually enrolling in the New York Film Academy.

Kunle Afolayan was then hailed by The New York Times as ‘The Scorsese of Lagos,.  He belonged to a set of budding stars in the industry, who actually had joined the younger generation of Nigerian filmmakers to leading to the transitioning of the Nigerian Nollywood into what we have today as a more mature industry.

This renowned filmmaker was born in 1966, and has played a major role in making sure that the Nigerian entertainment industry is promoted both at the regionally level and at the internationally level.

Newton Aduaka was once an engineering student in England. The young filmmaker at a point bad to switched into pursuing a degree in Video Arts, then at the London International Film School.
