There was heavy security presence at Osogbo City Stadium on Tuesday as Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State elects its candidate for the 2022 governorship election. THE PUNCH reports.

According to THE PUNCH, 2018 governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke is coming up against Prince Dotun Babayemi and Mr. Sanya Ominrin for the ticket.

Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Dele Adeleke and Fatai Akinbade had announced withdrawal from the race.

As part of security measures, a part of the Obafemi Awolowo Way was blocked from traffic.

There was also an unusually large security presence of operatives of State Security Service, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, men of Road Safety Corps, and operatives of Amotekun corps, at the entrance to the venue, as people going in were made to identify themselves.
