14 people are reported to have died as a result of flooding in various towns throughout the state, according to the Niger State Emergency Management Agency.
Ahmed Inga, the agency’s director general, issued a statement on Monday identifying the localities where the people were killed as Magama, Kontagora, Agwara, Rafi, Lavun, Bosso, and Paikoro. As a result of water being released from the state’s Kainji and Jeba hydro dams, Inga continued, the agency had issued the warning.

He claims that the minutely release of water from dams could cause the River Niger to overflow.
According to him, the state was already feeling the effects of the flooding, with certain local government districts having houses, farms, bridges, and connected highways washed away.
He stated that many people were left homeless as a result of the catastrophe, which also had an impact on the socioeconomic activities of the impacted towns.
Inga added that assessments of the effects of the flood were still being conducted and that there would be a recurrent update.
He made an appeal to all parties involved, including the conventional institutions, wealthy individuals, and the media, to assist in spreading information about the impending disaster.
