7,000 PDP supporters defect to APC in Sokoto

As the general election in 2023 draws nearer, the two major political parties in Sokoto State have been rocked by a wave of defections. The most recent was a group of approximately 7,000 PDP members who defected to the APC, claiming that the PDP had failed in every area of development.Information Guide Nigeria

This is stated in a press release that Bashar Abubakar, Senator Aliyu Wamakko’s Special Assistant for New Media, made available to journalists on Friday.

The declaration came after the state’s ruling PDP continued to suffer from widespread defections.
Over 4,270 PDP supporters from the state’s Wurno Local Government Area were among the defectors who were welcomed by Ahmad Aliyu, the APC candidate for governor in the state.

The governorship candidate expressed satisfaction on the large number of PDP supporters that dumped the party for the APC, saying,”…there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the APC leader in the state, was represented by Aliyu, who promised the defectors similar treatment.JAMB Result

He pledged that his administration would build on the monumental achievements of the late Wamakko, governor of Sokoto State. In the event that he is elected governor in 2023, he has promised to repair the Huchi Road, which was destroyed by flooding.

Aliyu called the state’s ruling party a failure, claiming that “(The) PDP in the state has failed horribly since none of the promises made to the people of the state were fulfilled.”

Isah Achida, the state’s APC chairman, welcomed the defectors and said the party was ready to carry on throughout to achieve its triumph at all levels in his speech.

Similar to this, more than 1,400 PDP supporters switched to the APC in Achida town, which is part of the Wurno local government area and is the hometown of Achida, the state APC chairman.

Alhaji Musa Marnona, the APC chairman for the Wurno local government, said that the party would keep up its efforts to advance in the region.
