Pa. Motilewa, the patriarch of the household, together with his two daughters and a girl believed to be related to them, all perished after eating the dinner. By some stroke of luck, Motilewa’s wife made it.

An individual named Motun, one of the deceased daughters, held a National Certificate of Education and worked as a local educator.

It was learned that the ‘Amala’ meal was formed by repurposing the leftover cassava flour after making and eating ‘Fufu. The processed shafts were reportedly left out in the sun to dry for many days.

However, they felt ill after eating the dinner on Thursday of last week, necessitating attempts to stabilise them the next day.

On Friday, the youngest family member passed away, and on Saturday, the relative who had been staying with them passed away as well.
