However, speaking after the match on Sunday, the Chelsea boss confirmed that Kante was in some pain and that was why he was substituted.

Thiago Silva

Silva was taken off on 52 minutes at Villa Park after suffering a hamstring injury – so it looks set that the Brazil defender will miss the clash with Brighton.

What Tuchel has said: “With Thiago, it was his hamstring. Hopefully, he got out before it became an injury and from there we try to continue and find a new squad and strong squad on Wednesday.”
