Even though they were bought up in faraway Jos, they are originally from Ifite Dunu in Anambra State South East Nigeria where they were born on 18 November 1981. Afterwards their parents relocated to Jos, where they grew up.

The parents of the the artists are late. Their mother Mrs. Josephine Okoye is late. She died in in India 2012 after a protracted undisclosed illness. The Father Mazi Moses Okoye died in their home in Lagos in 2014. It was reported he could have died as a result of knee injury which had originally brought him to Lagos from Jos.

Other siblings of P-Square are Ifeanyi, Henry, Jude, Lilian, Mary and Tony. The duo admitted that they really missed their mother because of her immense contribution to their musical career.

They recounted she used to sneak them out at night to attend shows when their dad insisted they must go to school.

P-Square EDUCATION

After the relocation to Jos, Plateau State, P-Square attended St. Mulumba Secondary School, Jos Plateau State North Central Nigeria. Much later in 1999, they applied to study Business Administration at University of Abuja. Even in school, P-Square was so into music.

Afterwards M Clef was dropped from the group and the name of the group was later changed to MMPP removing the first M of M Clef from their group name. In a bid to further their musical career, they went on to learn skills on drums, keyboard, and guitar in 1999.

The sound tracks they produced were used in home videos. Consequently, the twin brothers formed the group P-Square in 1999. This is the same name they bear till today.

The group was managed by Bayo Odusami who is also the CEO of Adrot Nigeria Limited at the time.

P-Square won Grab Da Mic competition making Benson and Hedges sponsor their debut album, Last Nite in 2001. After the release of the album they were nominated in Kora Awards under the Most Promising African Group category.

Even though their first album was released under Timbuk2 label, they released their second album in 2005 under their record label, Square Records. P-Square’s second studio album was titled Get Squared. After the release of this album, their fan base skyrocketed not only in Africa but around the US and Europe.

Apart from Nigeria and Ghana, P-Square has huge fan base in South Africa, Egypt, Tanzania, US and UK. They later moved from Jos to Lagos. In year 2007, P-Square released Game Over. This album sold over 1 million copies in 6 days. It is recorded that the album sold over 8 million copies all over the world. This had the duo steadily smiling to the bank.

Two years later in 2009 they released the album, Danger. In less than 3 weeks, 1 million copies of the album were sold. The duo announced it on their twitter handle. Note that elder brother, Jude Okoye is their producer. In what many enthusiasts tagged a family affair.

The twins said they were rather disappointed about the sales of this album. This is because they compared it with the previous album, Game Over which was recorded to have gone platinum.

On July 29 2011, the duo released their fifth studio album called Invasion. This album went platinum in 4 days. It featured America’s finest artistes Rick Ross and Akon in its Beautiful Onyinye video.

The video was shot in ATL Georgia after the duo had signed partnership deal with Akon’s Konvict Music. Other artists on the album include Nigerian queen of R&B Tiwa Savage, Muna, May D, Naeto C, Waje, etc.

This explains why they go on tours across US, Asia and Europe with each tour witnessing thousands of fans, and are adjudged sold out concerts by industry experts.

P-Square MARRRIAGE

The duo of P-Square are married. This was done after they had differently impregnated their “baby mamas.” Peter Okoye got married in 2013 after dating the woman who would later become his wife for 8 years.

Peter Okoye got married to Lola Omotayo who worked as Business Development Director at a marketing company in Lagos. They met at a show in Enugu where he had asked for her contact but she refused to give her asking him to do some task before getting it.

Of course, Peter Okoye later got the number and today they are happily married. Fans criticised Peter Okoye for marrying an older Lola.

As for Paul Okoye, he got married to his longtime girlfriend and baby mama, Anita Isima in March 2014. The event took place in the garden city of Port Harcourt. It was a society wedding showcasing some of the finest singers in Nigeria.

P-Square SUCCESS

They always give their mom the credit for encouraging them with moral support and prayers all through their musical career.

P-Square is often rated the richest as well as the most bankable Nigerian artistes. They often announce the acquisition of many choice mansions and cars on social networks (like twitter) all over Nigeria and in US.

They are worth over US$120 million. Thus, making them the richest artistes to be ever highly rated in Nigeria at the time. Also, they have had many endorsements from many Nigerian brands including telecom giant, glo which bought them 2015 G Wagon and 2015 Range Rover in appreciation as their brand ambassadors.

P-Square FIGHT

In 2014 the duo of P-Square had a little misunderstanding which almost led to their split. Many industry followers claim it is not unconnected to Lola Omotayo.

The unconfirmed sources claimed that the misunderstanding arose because the wife of Peter Okoye, Lola Omotoya was mistreated because of her tribe and age.

So, Peter threatened to pull out of the group if the current trend was not changed by all members of the Okoye family. It was gathered that the crises was further fueled by the fact that Peter Okoye bought a house for Lola in the US. This was later resolved amicably.
