About 352 interns have been affected.
The interns, protested on the streets of Calabar and were heard chanting songs and carrying placards with various inscriptions such as ‘Pay UCTH interns now’, ‘Don’t harass us’, ‘Pay us now’, ‘11 months without interns salaries’, among others.
According to The Punch, conversing with journalists during the protest, an intern, Gideon Duba, said UCTH owed them for 11 months adding that whenever they tried to engage the management for their payment, they were usually told that it was government issue. jamb results
Duba further claimed that UCTH had called the police to threaten them and that their stipends was up to N480m.

He called on the government parastatal to help resolve the challenge.
In his words: “We keep on engaging the management, but they say we are disturbing; we have worked and asked for our salaries (stipends), but they say we are disturbing and that we are causing security threats.
“A memo was released on the 2nd of August, placing us on a one month suspension, to allow for the resolution of the issue. Up till now, nothing has been done. They said we should write an apology letter; we have done so, yet no solution,” he said.
