Yobe Commemorates 2022 World Red Cross Day
The Nigeria Red Cross Society, (NRCS) Yobe State Branch is felicitating with government and good people as well as partners in the State on the occasion of the World Red Cross Day celebration that marks the birthday of the founder of the movement, Sir Jean Henry Dunant who was born on the 8th May. INDEPENDENT reports.
Mohammed Kagana Amshi, Yobe State Branch Communication Officer in a statement made available to Daily Independent in Damaturu said that “This day was set aside every year the world over to celebrate and remember the struggles and contributions made by the founding father of Red Cross movement in the area of providing humanitarian supports to victims of armed conflicts/crisis and natural disasters across the globe”. According to him: ”This year’s celebration with the theme; #BeHumandKind was carefully selected to showcase how the movement provides support, love and concern for victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters as well as to raise awareness of the need to donate to the support of people affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters in Nigeria”.

“Other activities lined up include blood donations by volunteers and staff of the Nigerian Red Cross Society Yobe Branch at the State Specialist Hospital to further support people in need of blood donation among other activities marking the anniversary celebration”.
