Daily Post has learned that 12 vehicles were destroyed by fire in the incident that occurred at the Sango-Ota Old Toll Gate Plaza along the Lagos-Abeokuta highway.

FRSC spokesman in Ogun, Florence Okpe, informed reporters that the tanker was climbing the Ilo Awele slope, adjacent to the Abeokuta-Lagos portion of the road, when it toppled, spilt its cargo, and caught fire at 1:30 a.m.
“Men of the fire service were contacted immediately and the area was cordoned-off to prevent a secondary crash,” Okpe said.
She added that as at 4:05 in the morning, “a total of 12 vehicles were involved, which comprised three luxury buses, four tricycles, three motorcycles, one yellow bus and a tanker.”
Okpe explained further that, “A total of three persons were rescued to Ota General Hospital (two male adults and one female adult), seriously burnt.

“The suspected cause of the multiple crash was mechanical deficiency. While ascending, the vehicle rolled back and got hooked. The content spilled off and there was fire outbreak.”
