Zamfara lawmakers Moves To Impeach Deputy Governor

Zamfara State House of Assembly has begun fresh moves to impeach the state’s deputy governor, Mahdi Aliyu.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Account and deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly, Musa Bawa submitted a document requesting the impeachment of the deputy governor at Friday’s plenary.

Mr Bawa who moved a motion for the consideration said: “I stand here before our able leader, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, to submit this document for the impeachment of the Deputy Governor, Zamfara State.”Jamb Result

Also speaking, the speaker of the house, Mr Magarya said, “We will treat the document in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended)”.

PREMIUM TIMES reports that the deputy governor of the state parted ways with Governor Bello Matatwalle after he refused to join the defecting governor and other elected officials in Zamfara to the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year.Information Guide Nigeria

As reported by PREMIUM TIMES, the officials came into office on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the disqualification of candidates of the APC by the Supreme Court.
