37-year-old man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping teenage girls

In a ruling by the Akwa Ibom State High Court in Eket, a 37-year-old man, Uduak Moses Idimudo, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of two minors.

The verdict was delivered by Justice Efiong Efiong, who found Idimudo guilty on 19 out of 20 counts of rape against the two girls, aged 14 and 15, who are students at a secondary school in Eket.informationguidenigeria

The court heard the harrowing account of one of the victims, who testified that in July 2020, while they were selling fried cow skin meat, Idimudo lured them into his home under the pretense of paying for the meat he purchased.

Instead, he forcefully raped both girls, initiating a pattern of abuse that continued for several months.

According to the testimony, Idimudo repeatedly threatened the girls and coerced them into silence, warning them of fatal consequences if they disclosed the abuse to anyone.NYSC Portal

This cycle of abuse and intimidation persisted from July 2020 until April 2021, only coming to light when a neighbor noticed the girls’ frequent visits to Idimudo’s house and alerted their parents.

In his one-hour judgment, Justice Efiong condemned Idimudo’s actions, describing him as a reprehensible individual who posed a significant threat to the community.JAMB Portal
