Three girls drown in Jigawa pond

Three young girls died while taking a bath in a pond at Faskarau village in the Kaugama Local Government Area of the state, according to the Jigawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.Information Guide Nigeria

Adamu Shehu, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the incident in a statement in Dutse on Monday.

He named the victims as Maryam Salisu, 10, Bahayura Lawan, 10, and Lawisa Sule, 8.

“The hapless incident occurred today, Monday, 5th day of September, 2022 at about 1100hrs when the three girls went to a nearby pond about three hundred meters away from the village to wash their clothes.”JAMB Result

“They were able to recover the bodies of the three young girls after about 30 minutes of search and rescue mission.

He emphasised that as soon as the bodies were found, they were transported to the General Hospital Kaugama, where they were pronounced dead.

After washing their clothes, the girls decided to take a bath in the pond, which ultimately resulted in their deaths, according to the PRO.

He continued by saying that it was also learned that a similar incident with three girls drowning in a pond occurred about twenty years prior.

He mentioned that after being given to their respective parents, the girls’ remains had been interred in accordance with Islamic customs.
