Saidu Umar, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for governor in Sokoto State, has welcomed 2,343 All Progressives Congress members who have defected to his party.Information Guide Nigeria
Umar welcomed the new PDP members at Thursday’s Ubandoma/Sagir Mainiyo Old Market Development Association inauguration.
This was said in a statement released to The PUNCH on Friday by Umar’s aide Nafiu Lema.
Umar told the defectors that they would be included in all party activities, especially now that the election campaigns had begun.
He instructed them to devote greater effort to gaining support and promoting the party’s candidates in the region.

Umar stated that if elected, his administration will create possibilities for the state’s youth and women through its empowerment programs.
He praised the association’s chairman, Abdulrashid Maccido, for empowering men and women in the region, and he challenged other businesspeople in the party to follow like.
Umar was accompanied to the occasion by Abdullahi Maigwandu, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs; Abdulqadir Junaidu, the Commissioner for Animal Health and Fisheries; and Bashir Gidado, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
Mustapha Shehu Sokoto and Faruku Sayudi were the Local Government Council Chairmen of Sokoto North and Sokoto South, respectively.JAMB Result
