Mercy Eke and Ike Onyema used to be one of the ‘perfect’ couples produced by one of the biggest reality shows, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija). However, the two went their separate ways, with several rumours surrounding their breakup.

Mercy Eke claims she had no idea her fanbase outside the house was so large because if she had, she would not have bothered getting involved with Ike. She went on to say that her relationship with Ike was failing, but she had no choice but to stick around him because of the money.NYSC portal

I wouldn’t say it was a strategy, for me, we flowed with it but we had to put up a show even when not happy for people who aren’t even in relationships. If it is not working out, you move but in my case I couldn’t, I had to be there cos of money, otherwise, I won’t have my complete money.
