Lagos police arrest 405 robbery suspects, kill 51

The Lagos State Police Command reports that between 2021 and 2022, 405 robbery suspects were apprehended and 51 others were killed during an exchange of gunfire.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the figures to the News Agency of Nigeria while discussing the command’s accomplishments.

Hundeyin reported that in 2021, 245 suspects were arrested and 25 were killed in 17 robbery incidents, while in 2022, 160 suspects were arrested and 26 were killed in 20 incidents.Information Guide Nigeria

During the period under review, 350 robbery attempts were thwarted, including 169 in 2021 and 182 in 2022.

According to the spokesperson, 206 firearms and 775 rounds of ammunition were recovered during the period, with 108 firearms and 348 rounds of ammunition recovered in 2021 and 98 firearms and 427 rounds of ammunition recovered in 2022.NYSC portal

During the period, 262 suspected cultists were arrested in 32 cultism cases, according to Hundeyin, while 128 were arrested in 18 cases in 2021 and 134 were arrested in 14 cases in 2022.

He stated that 206 murders were reported in 2022, up from 192 in 2021, and that the number of suicides increased from 25 in 2021 to 30 in 2022.

The spokesman reported that three police officers lost their lives in the command as a result of 20 attacks during the period, with 10 attacks occurring annually.

The number of kidnapping cases decreased from five in 2021 to two in 2022, with three suspects apprehended.

Hundeyin reported that 35 vehicles were recovered over the course of the period, 10 in 2021 and 25 in 2022.JAMB Result
