Despite being one of the most successful British singer-songwriters of all time, the 32-year-old Shape Of You chart-topper was not invited to perform with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Take That at the massive spectacle likely to be one of the most viewed gigs of all time.
‘I want to clear something up actually because there was loads of stuff in the press that I turned down the coronation, and no one ever asked me ever,’ he said on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up.NYSC Portal

‘I assume if they went online and went, “What’s Ed doing on May 6th?” they would’ve been like, “Oh, he’s playing in Dallas.”
‘I think that’s what happened, but obviously, [the] press had the negative story of loads of people turning down the coronation. But I never ever turned it down,’ he stressed.
‘I’m excited to tune [in],’ he assured. ‘It’s historic.’
Instead Ed and Alanis Morisette will be replacing Katy and Lionel as judges on American Idol, who will both be entertaining His Majesty on Sunday.
Freya Ridings has been forced to pull out of the concert last minute due to illness.
The Lost Without You singer, 29, was supposed to perform a duet with classical-soul composer Alexis French.
Instead, Zak Abel – who has collaborated with Gorgon City, Kygo, and Tom Misch in the past – will instead step in for Freya.JAMB Result
