This decision by President Tinubu is seen as a protective measure for the citizens, who are already grappling with economic pressures.

The move is being lauded within the APC circles as reflective of the Presidents understanding and consideration for the hardships faced by the masses.

The halt on the planned electricity tariff hike has been described as a sign that President Bola Tinubu is sensitive to the plight of the masses, says Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Osun State.

Oyintiloye, speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, recalled that the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, had on November 8 revealed that President Tinubu recently stopped an increase in the cost of electricity tariff and insisted that subsidy be paid on power consumed nationwide.

He said the minister maintained that removing electricity subsidy, while Nigerians were still battling the effects of fuel subsidy removal would be counter-productive.
